Tense Standoff in Las Heras: Man Threatens with Machete

In the Mendoza city of Las Heras, a man barricaded himself in his house with a machete and sprayed the home with a gasoline can. The operation to resolve the situation was carried out by several units, including police personnel, agents from the Incident and Kidnapping Resolution Group (GRIS), Special Security Group (GES), firefighters, and doctors. The emergency occurred in the San Francisco neighborhood, where the man threatened to set his house on fire.

The individual, armed with a machete, sprayed the dining room of the house with fuel. After negotiating with the authorities, they managed to prevent him from igniting the place. Subsequently, medical personnel evaluated the man, confirming that he was in good general health. It was learned that the man had been reported for gender violence in the past, although in this incident, he did not take anyone hostage. The episode took place during midday on a Friday.

For his part, the man barricaded with the machete stated: "I can't lose my house, I would leave it to my children, I have no job, I have no money, I have a car, I have a debt, I haven't been given work in three years. This is a quiet suicide that I don't want to commit."
